The Catholic social teaching principle Option for the Poor encourages us to imitate Christ’s love for the poor by working to create a society where the needs of the poor are always considered first. The option for the poor reminds us of God’s preferential love for the poorest and most vulnerable people. God’s love is universal; he loves the humble.
‘The poor do not need intermediaries, but the personal involvement of all those who hear their cry.’ Pope Francis, Second World Day Of The Poor

The pupils made and donated 100 shoebox Christmas gifts to the Samaritans to be given to families who needed them.

The pupils raised money during Lent. They selected the Catholic Children’s Society who provide support to Catholic families, New Hope Trust who support the homeless in Watford and Mary’s Meals who provide lunch for pupils in some of the poorest countries around the world to donate their money to. Two of our pupils made and sold bookmarks outside of school and chose to donate the money they raised to Mary’s Meals.
