A welcome from the Headteacher

Welcome to the website of Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School and Nursery.

Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School and Nursery is a thriving school in the Diocese of Westminster. Our school is situated in the village of Bushey and proudly serves the Parish of The Sacred Heart of Jesus and St John the Evangelist.

The primary aim of our school is to be a welcoming Catholic community, living out the Gospel values in all that we say and do and supporting every child to succeed in their journey of faith and education.

Our mission statement ‘Learning and loving with Christ as our teacher’ underpins all aspects of school life and this message is lived out by all.

We cater for children from Nursery Class age through to the end of the academic year in which their eleventh birthday falls. We are a one and a half entry school with mixed-ability classes.

Teaching is carried out through whole class, mixed ability and ability groups as appropriate. Teaching Assistants work under the direction of the class teachers in all classes to provide additional support. This may involve working with individuals, groups or supervising the whole class while the teacher works with individuals or groups.

All children have full access to the National Curriculum. Extra curricular activities include football, netball, Science, chess, choir and Art Club.

We adopt a number of strategies and activities in raising attainment and progression of disadvantaged children. These include 1:1 tuition, small group and peer to peer support.
